Goilips 5G Midhaul/Backhaul Long-Distance Metro Aggregation Solution

High-speed data backhaul from DU to CU, and from CU to the core network.

Applications

5G Midhaul Network (DU to CU Aggregation)

For long-distance aggregation from distributed DU sites to centralized CU rooms or edge cloud (MEC), typically over 10km to 20km links.

5G Backhaul Network (CU to Core Network)

For metro core and backbone edge links connecting CU rooms to 5GC, supporting 100G/200G/400G high-capacity direct connections up to 40km.

Integrated Service Bearer Networks (FlexE / SPN / OTN)

Fits operator SPN, FlexE, and OTN aggregation devices with high-sensitivity, low-latency physical-layer optical interfaces.

Deployment & Architecture

In metro aggregation ring or chain topologies between DU, CU, and the 5G core network, Goilips LR4/ER4 modules are inserted directly into 100G/200G/400G ports on aggregation routers or OTN equipment for repeaterless long-distance direct links.

Goilips 5G Midhaul/Backhaul Long-Distance Metro Aggregation Solution

Midhaul DU to CU

Core Deployment:Goilips 100G/200G LR4 modules using PAM4 / LAN-WDM four-wavelength transmission over dual-fiber SMF with LC interfaces.

Advantage:Supports access-to-aggregation 5G midhaul links over 10km, matching distributed DU to centralized CU/MEC deployment.

Cross-District Metro Aggregation

Core Deployment:Goilips 200G/400G LR4-10 modules for 10km to 20km metro aggregation spans.

Advantage:Provides scalable high-throughput capacity for dense urban aggregation rings and inter-office connections.

Backhaul CU to Core Network

Core Deployment:Goilips 100G/200G/400G ER4 modules using PAM4 / LAN-WDM with APD or SOA receiver enhancement over dual-fiber SMF.

Advantage:Enables 40km metro long-haul backbone links without intermediate electrical regeneration.

DDM-Based Intelligent Operations

Core Deployment:Complies with SFF-8472 / SFF-8636 and monitors Tx power, Rx power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage in real time.

Advantage:Supports alarm thresholds and telemetry reporting so operations teams can identify fiber aging or micro-bending risks before service impact.

Key Benefits

1

Simplified Metro Topology and Lower CapEx

With 40km repeaterless transmission, operators can avoid expensive intermediate WDM amplifier or EDFA sites, reducing equipment, space, and construction costs.

2

Automated Optical Diagnostics and Lower OpEx

DDM enables remote transparent management of optical link quality and can reduce on-site troubleshooting visits by more than 60%.

3

Elastic Evolution from 100G to 400G

Unified QSFP28 / QSFP-DD packaging supports smooth upgrades from 100G to 200G/400G ports while protecting existing network equipment investment.
